Carbon permits prices exceed €100/t for the first time ever

Carbon permits prices in Europe have reached the symbolic 100 €/t bar for the first time in their history. Their value had risen significantly between 2020 and 2022, and had remained at very high levels in 2022, even approaching the 100 €/t bar several times. For reference, they were worth only 20 €/t at the end of 2020, and less than 5 €/t before 2018.

This increase illustrates the need to decarbonise our energy mix in the long term and the growing pressure to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels.

The massive storage solution for renewable electricity developed by STOLECT provides a more competitive, controllable and decarbonised electricity than that produced by fossil fuels.
